Welcome Aboard!

Fatherhood isn’t a straight course. It’s a lifelong voyage filled with calm waters, rough seas, and the occasional mutiny. Cap’n’s Logs is where I chart my journey in hopes to inspire, educate, and entertain others. I’m a dad who’s worn a lot of hats over the years. Some have fit better than others but each came with its own share of challenges and rewards. At 52 I’m the proud father of two grown daughters, two teenage sons, and also a grandfather to a boy and girl who all light up my world. Around here I’m called Cap’n. Not for any other reason than it was cool at the time. The name stuck when I became a grandfather at the age of 41 and refused to take on any traditional title of grandfather. I felt too young to be called, Pop, grandfather, granddad, gramps, etc… I told my daughter that she had to come up with something cooler. After many attempts all of which none were quite hitting the mark, Cap’n stuck. It felt like me. It had a little grit, a little humor, and a sense of adventure – like steering this family through life’s unpredictable waters. This blog is my logbook: reflections from the helm, a few stories from the galley, and maybe a weather report or two on the storms every parent faces.

Welcome aboard. Let’s set sail!
